Scrapbooking and Cards Today

Today, I am excited to share some projects with a sweet little stamp that is quickly becoming a favorite for me, Hug in a Mug!

I recently had the chance to be a guest blogger for the Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine blog, and these are the creations I made.

I have paired it with the Cable Knit embossing folder. Fair warning, I went a little crazy with my projects, and I just couldn’t leave any of them out!

Look at all of those images! And some pretty great sentiments too.
And this is a super versatile embossing folder perfect for cool and cold weather projects.

Here I took one simple design and created three different projects. Front and center is a self-closing box, to the left is a Mini Treat Bag, and to the right is a card.

I used several dies from the Mini Treat Bag framelit set here, as there is a lovely heart and a banner included in the set. The sentiment is Copper heat embossed on Vellum cardstock, then die-cut. The heart has a little “enjoy” Copper heat embossed on a piece of Wood Textures designer series paper also. The cup color (Tranquil Tide) was stamped first on Whisper White cardstock, then wiped with an Embossing Buddy before stamping the outline and the details in Versamark ink and Copper heat embossed also. I did cut the pieces of the Mini Treat Bag out of Whisper White cardstock before I embossed them with the Cable Knit embossing folder. This Mini Treat Bag will nicely hold a packet of cocoa or cider.

The circle on this project is made using the Stitched Shapes framelits. I think these are crafting essentials really, as there are nesting circles, ovals, and squares. I use them All. The. Time. Really, I don’t even put them away!

There are oodles of tutorials out on the internet on how to make these self-closing bags. This one holds a packet of hot cocoa or apple cider, and you could tuck a few little sweets and a gift card in at the same time.

Here is the diagram I keep in my reference notebook. Yes, I have a little notebook just for treat boxes and bag tutorials. Don’t you? 😁

The card has a circle and a square layered behind the mug. Although these three projects are very similar, they each have their own little twist.

For this card, I indulged in my passion for watercolor techniques. I took a panel of Watercolor Paper and taped it down to a board. Then I wet the panel with clean, clear water and used an Aqua-painter to drop Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist ink (that I picked up from the lids of the ink pads) onto the wet paper. Then I dried it with my Heat Tool. And pulled out the Embossing Paste and Pattern Party masks. And the Lemon Lime Twist panel got the Cable Knit embossing treatment too.

To keep the watercolor feeling going on the inside, I added some spatters to the inside panel.

These are the last projects, I promise! These are varying degrees of complication.

This one features some Clear heat embossed images on the Chocolate Chip panel, and a piece of Vellum cardstock that has been embossed with the Cable Knit embossing folder.

Simple stamping inside for the sentiment. The Hug in a Mug stamp set really has you covered with images and sentiments!

Just simple tone on tine stamping on the Tranquil Tide panel here, and the Labels to Love stamp set with the Everyday Label punch help out to highlight the White heat embossed sentiment. I hope that you have found at least a bit of inspiration here, and that at least one of these projects was in a style that appeals to you. Thanks Scrapbook & Cards Today, for this opportunity to share with your readers! ~ Tanya
